We arrived in California last night after a looooong trip. We expected warm weather and some of us were almost dressed in a bathing suit. So it came as a surprise that the weather was of the kind you would expect in Reykjavik, rainy and rather cold…
The hotel is nice. The room I got though was very odd in some way I can’t quite define. I really didn’t like it. So I asked for another one and got a much better room.
If you believe in otherworldly stuff (and some of us do) it is easy to come to the conclusion that hotels are psychic cesspools. All kinds of individuals pass through them and they often do tragic things to themselves.
A man I know quite well told me that he once asked his friend, who works in a hotel, what was the worst thing about his job. His reply was: “To take out the bodies.”
Apparently suicides in hotels are quite common. The atmosphere where someone has killed himself/herself can’t be healthy. No doubt we will be staying in such places some of the time.
On a less sombre note: No rehearsals today. So I’ll take a long walk around. Los Angeles seems to be an exciting place!

Hotels can have some of the nastiest energy and if you feel it in your gut, just get a new room. The gut don’t lie! If you have time, you should go to the Santa Monica Pier and ride the Ferris Wheel way high above the ocean! It’s so cool. There’s also a little shopping but it’s mostly make you vomit tourist shopping. Anyhow…welcome to America and see you Friday!

Ahaha, way to be really depressing! You shouldnt say things like that, it might bring bad luck to the ensemble (well, maybe the lucky socks will cancel that out…). It’s pretty nice out more towards the east, our weather has finally started turning around for the better, but since weather always travels from the western side of the nation, I hope we dont get that cold weather again.
Anyway, hope you enjoy LA, I’m sure you and the ensemble’s bright spirits will warm up the weather!!

u´re so lucky to work with Bjork, i went to her show here in Rio, a unic experience, Bjork inspires me and i wish she could see some of my work it´s very inspired by her…

I used to work in a hotel that was built in the 1900’s called The Kalispell Grand Hotel. There was one inparticular spirit who loved to play with the phone systems. People would come down to the front desk at all hours complaining about their phone making nothing but white noise when they picked it up, then return to their room and it would be fine. I can’t remember the name they gave this ghost, but it was a woman and she was always quite the mischevious entity. There was also a man who said that he saw a woman standing in his bathroom one night and when he got up to go look, she had vanished.
I would also sometimes play the amazing old old old time piano while I was there at about 10PM and I always got the best vibe from it. It was situated right next to an elevator and it would sometimes open and chime for no apparent reason. I loved it there.
I wish I could see you all in Coachella.

sounds very lost in translation…
though you seem happier.
i’ll take the chance to ask…
do you know if you’ll be playing in Argentina? (i think björk came here in 98… uff… i was just a teen, and didn’t know her yet…. time time time)
does that depend on things such as record sales or something?-
nice reading this side of touring.

Hope you can comeback to Chile (or South America) soon. We’ve been waiting you to comeback since that amazing 1998 show!

We leave for New York on Saturday. And South America is on the agenda later this year, though nothing has been confirmed yet, as far as I know.
