The last few days have been fairly relaxed. We arrived in Vancouver on Sunday and the little I have seen of the city is really nice and harmonious. We were very lucky with the weather, the sun was shining most of the time and it was pleasantly warm.
On Monday I went with Einar Örn, Björk and her little daughter to the aquarium. The main attraction was the Beluga whales, one of which is named Aurora! For those who don’t know, Aurora is also the name if one of Björk’s better known songs. Aurora’s photo, which I took with my cell phone, is below. The jellyfish was also unbelievably beautiful.
On Tuesday I did nothing much except taking a long walk with Einar around the city. And last night we gave our concert in Lake Deer Park. As usual the venue was packed with people. I could see them extra well as we went quite early on stage, at eight o’clock when it was still daylight.
In spite of a few mishaps here and there the concert was OK. At least, I enjoyed myself a lot… but then I always do! And I loved the audience.
Ghostigital was our supporting group and this time I listened to most of their performance. I think it was splendid. Their music was so dark and mysterious, but never pretentious; it seemed to come from a really deep place in Einar’s and Curver’s souls. In my opinion, that is genuine art. Rock on, boys!
We are now in Seattle. This is Frasier city!!! Before embarking on the tour I made the decision to buy all the seasons of Frasier when in Seattle, but now that I’m here, I don’t think I will. I have already too much luggage (I’m not going to make that mistake when the European tour starts around June 20), besides, I have already seen all the episodes of Frasier…

next time you are in Vancouver you should check out Stanly park, lions gate, and my favorite attraction, the university of British Columbia museum of anthropology!!!
while you are in Seattle, say hello to my mum and brothers! there is a cool building called EMP (expearence music project) that is devoted to jimi hendrix, antique instruments, and high end technology, the place lets you hear vintage microphones, amps, strings, its pretty cool, but nothing you dont expearence on a daily basis
my brother Kevin’s first concert was the shoreline show!!! he was most amazed, and had never heard of you before that, he loves the reactable multi touch surface synthesizer.!! and as dos myself!!!!
I wish i could go to sasquash but my other brother who lives here in Sacramento is getting married that day!
I totally would, but mabye i could catch up with you in Europe… I just got this new job and they are flying me all over the place, HOPEFULLY our paths coincide once again in the VERY near future!!!!

Jónas, I’m so glad you enjoyed Vancouver!
Congratulations on last night’s concert. It felt like it got off to a little bit of a rocky start, but it didn’t take long for everyone to come together for an AMAZING show. There were so many highlights for me, but I wanted to let you know that you personally blew me away in “I See Who You Are”, and you totally rocked during “Bachelorette”!!!
Not my first time seeing Björk, not even my first time seeing her outdoors, but it was definitely a memorable event. My love to everyone who was on stage! And a special hello to the girls in the “Icelandic Brass Cooperative” - I had the pleasure of chatting with some of them when they came to my place of work to buy sheet music!
Takk fyrir í gær…

Hitch Hikers guide to the galaxy is the greatest book ever!!Sorry I know this doesn’t have anything to do with Bjork or the beautiful Beluga whale but I had to tell someone, and seeing as where I live reading is forbidden so Ill tell whoever happens to read this. I was feeling rather down but now I’m as happy as a Sperm Whale in Outter Space!! To make this comment slightly more valid Ill say great job at coachella. so GREAT JOB at coachella, it was one hell of a first concert for myself!! Read the book!! Oh but don’t watch the movie, I hear it was terrible.

I hope our Sacramento river whales make it home ok… they are injured… and lost… in our rivers..
If anyone knows anything that can help, do not hesitate…
I was thinking that if we got big red lights and put them behind them, and then soothing blue green lights and put them in front of them we could maybe guide them to their home…
I don’t know, they started heading home, but stopped about 70 miles away, but thats improvements, cause they came a whole 90 miles all the way to Sacramento.

Hi Jónas, I’m glad that you enjoyed Vancouver! Are you excited about the last US concert this saturday? I just wanna say that you, Bjork, the Icelandic brass girls, and everyone else on board is doing an EXCELLENT JOB…I can’t wait for bjork to come back to the USA for years to come (i saw her for the first time ever at the Radio City venue this year).

this was a mind blowing show, i am not sure what to even right down, every song was perfect, though about four songs were ruined for me, i dont want to give you the scoop on all the negative stuff, so i just wanted to let you know that you did an excellent job and you and Bjork should start a dance club seeing as you guys can be very elegant (the ending of Oceania, i thought that was the most awsome dance in the world)
well good bye and thankyou for playing for us.
peace & respects

1) Vancouver is a great town, but beware of the crack heads outside the after hours clubs
2) The Emp Museum in seattle is great, they even let you play with the intruments.. Though the best park (the james brown ride) is no longer there I think =/
3)While you are in seattle check out the pike place market, and eat some steamed clams down on the piers!! OMG THEY ARE SOOOOO GOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
4)Hitchhikers guide is a great flippin book! The movie is actually not terrible, it is just a case of bad lighting and a terrible job by the make up artist on zaphod’s extra head. It can be distracting.. stick with the first 30 minutes, and you may adjust and at least find some enjoyment. However, by no means does it rival the books, simply because it would have to be 10 hours long to come even close ;)\
5) Sacramento river whales? I had no idea. Perhaps play some friendly whale sounds at the mouth of the river to show them the way. or maybe some trained fresh water dolphins (yes there is such a thing) could guide them out.
7-11) See you at the Gorge in George, You Are Going To Love It !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Us Washintonians are like the Icelandics of the US. We are the closest state to Alaska after all. We play in the rain, and invite the snow. Summers are usually warm and humid, but beautiful, because nature spent all winter watering the place. Though where the show in the gorge is, it is a bit more dry. Some time when you have time and are in Washington again, explore the areas between Seattle and Vancouver, Canada, and take the ferry boats through the islands, I think you will feel like you are home, but while you were away someone mysteriously planted all these giant tree’s and ferns everywhere ; P It is the land where dinosaurs could still roam, and snack on bigfoot (sasquatch) ocassionaly
Enjoy the Emerald city, and see you at George, Todd

Ha ha… the Oceania dance has developed quite spontaneously! Glad you liked it!

Hi, I just wanted to stop by and tell you that the Vancouver concert was absolutely awesome. You did an excellent job. I particularly like what you add to Bachelorette. You give it something I didn’t even know was missing!
Seeing all those Icelanders and hearing Einar’s ridiculously thick Icelandic accent totally made me miss Iceland. I’ve just moved back to Canada and it’s so different here. But it was so nice to have a little chunk of Iceland in Vancouver, if just for a day.
Enjoy the rest of the tour and “Frasier city”! (I wonder if you can find that actual coffee shop somewhere…that might be fun).

Hi Jonas, please express my thanks and gratitude to you, Bjork and everyone for coming to Vancouver. The show was amazing, perfect, wonderful and special. I was so happy to finally see Bjork live in concert! She has been an inspiration for so many years, someone who is so creative, expressive, passionate, eccentric…it is funny because people compare me to Bjork and tease me about it…in looks, elfenness(groan), manner of expressing things, but best of all we apparently stick out tongues out when we are concentrating-which I have seen her do in interviews of photos. I saw a photo of her from the show with yes her tongue sticking out! yay! Bjork was phenomenal as were the musicians with such passion and intensity! Bjork truly is a great singer!
Deer Lake Park was such a beautiful venue with the lake and setting sun behind the stage. You mentioned being able to see the audience because the sun was still shining. That is one thing I was wondering about as I was looking forward to the laser lights but knew earlier shows were done in darkness. But the further north you go the days are getting longer as the summer solstice approaches. The sun set at 9 pm that night. the laser lights were still great fun and my husband got some video of the final songs with the lights just frantic and brilliant!
I am so glad the weather cooperated as all the Vancouver/west coast fans know what Vancouver can really be like. Rain had been forecast so we had brought our raingear to Vancouver just in case. But you brought the sun with you!
The belugas at the Vancouver Aquarium are sooo beautiful and funny. They are so smart too. They don’t have to do tricks like the dolphins. They just swim around, bounce a few balls on their heads and get free food! Once Aurora spat at my sister and me and she seemed to be laughing.
Next time Bjork and co comes this way they should go to Tofino and see whales in the ocean! I saw a humpback a few weeks ago swimming up the Georgia strait!
Safe travels home and have a great summer of festivals!
