I have just come back to Reykjavik after playing on the Jools Holland Show. We recorded it yesterday, but as it hasn’t been aired yet, I can’t reveal what we played.
My excursion into the history of music went a little further with the monumental event (ha ha) of me shaking hands with Paul McCartney!!! Yes, Sir Paul will be on the show as well as Lady Björk. I haven’t heard his new cd, but the songs he performed yesterday were quite catchy.
I may not be a great fan of the old Beatle, but he has the knack of making popular music out of very simple elements. In that respect he is the Mozart of pop music. And as a human being, he seems quite likeable. Besides, he looks so young!
We recorded the show in two sessions. There was a camera rehearsal in the afternoon, and I understand some of the shots will be used in the final version. In the evening we did the show itself with a live audience, a very LIVELY audience indeed!
My daughter travelled with me and while we were at the BBC building, she was having fun with Björk’s daughter. In the evening they went, with a babysitter, to see Mary Poppins - the musical, not the film. Apparently it was fantastic, with Mary ACTUALLY FLYING OVER THEIR HEADS!
And now I have a few days of rest in Reykjavík. On Sunday I’m off to Paris with the little one, but just for a holiday. I’m already looking forward to it!

I was lucky enough to see you all perform at Jools Holland thanks to a friend. You were the best thing there by a mile and should have been the grand finale! Loved the Reactable too which is a fantastic thing. Thought Bjork looked a bit cheesed off though at times - send her this link if you like - made me smile when I saw it. Quite lovely:

…and maybe in a year or so the following will be of interest to some of you too?

i have to say, that sounds too cute about your’s and B’s daughters, did they say much about the show. Was this your first time on Jools Holland? and i really really reallly have to ask something about the tour… are you playing the following songs, Big Time Sensuality, Come To Me, Enjoy, Possibly Maybe, All Neon Like, Alarm Call, I’ve Seen It All, Hidden Place, Who Is It, Mouths Cradle, Triumph of a Heart, and last but not least Vertabrae by Vertabrae, only answer if you are allowed to, because i wouldnt want Bjork, to Destroy you for revealinh her secrets..
anyways goodluck with the rest of the day/year/tour/holiday

Sounds like you had fun !
It also sounds like you are about to have even more fun while in Paris. Paris is one of my most favorite cities in the world. I am jealous.
When you play in Toronto, one thing you must do is stay at the Sheraton on the falls that overlooks the Niagara Falls. Everyone should do this once in their lives. Be sure to get a room that faces the falls and I swear the view in the evening is simply orgasmic ! It is probably a drive from your venue but well worth it .
See you there perhaps.

Nobody has said anything about it, but I think the image of your daugther with Isadora is adorable…

Hi,
Having fun in Paris is cool, greater is it in the South (of France).
Cheers !

I’m not trying to start anything here, but I read on the bjork.com forum that when she was at Jools show, she seemed not happy and rolling her eyes and being rude to people. I’m not saying she’s gotta be happy sunshine 24/7, because I for one am definitely not and don’t expect anyone to be everyday of their lives…but if she was upset could she maybe say why? I’m just curious, and a bit nosey…but it just made me sad to see that someone had a bad experience with one of their favorite artists when they were only trying to do their job. But I for one was not there and can’t account for any of this so I just wanted to ask about the experience there?

This is nonsense. She was her usual happy self. And I was there!

even if it was true foot soldier, holly shnikey, let a girl be herself, she isn’t a PR rep, that has to respond to everyone with sunshine and loli pops. However now that I think about it, I want to see a video with bjork dancing around a field of loli pops, and with a giant smiling sun following her around everywhere she goes ! S_hit , if I had the budget, that would be my video to submit to the contest!! any chance I can win the contest just based on concept alone!?

Precisely!

Mathew: I can’t really go into details but Vertebrae is certainly on the list.
