We had a good show last Monday at the Fox Theatre in Atlanta. After partying a little with the very nice members of our supporting group, Santogold, we headed back to the bus and drove all night. We were going to Montreal for a concert tomorrow, but stopped on the way in Front Royal, more precisely in Shenandoah National Park.
I didn’t sleep too well on the bus to Front Royal and spent the day resting in my room in Skyland Resort, enjoying the absence of a TV, the internet and traffic noises. I saw a deer nosing around, but it ran away when it saw me, and I was told that there were bears in the woods.
It was wonderful to be out in the country for a change!
I came across a cultural oddity while in Front Royal. At the diner in Skyland Resort we watched a spectacle I have never witnessed before. It was a group of women dancing and I shot a videoclip of it. It is entitled Mark Bell enjoying the show of the Shenandoah Valley Cloggers. I think the group is also known as the Banjo Girls, at least two of them had that name printed on their shirts.
It is great to be in Montreal. The city has good vibes. Yesterday I went out with Andrea, Númi, Ragga and a friend of hers; we ate tapas at a Spanish restaurant and then went to a Beastie Boy concert. It was interesting to be “on the other side of the fence” for a change, I sure had a good time.

I’ve been thrice in Montréal last year when I was living in Canada.
I can remember easily a fountain near the Museum of Modern Art which takes fire during summertime. And in this fountain there is a sculpture from a Québec-native artist (who I forget the name).
The place you will play is a nice one. The Québécois have a nice “sense” on how to use water ; there is the museum of the water to visit at Saint Hélène Island.
Go ahead and vive le Québec libre !
Cheers,
Romain

Is there a particular performance on your current tour that stood out above all others as the best?

Oh ya thanks, Montreal is a great city! I can’t wait to see you guys play again! I went in NYC last May because I taught you wouldn’t come here, what a wonderful surprise! Enjoy the city, the weather this week is pretty nice. Come eat the best ribs at Le Baton Rouge, in front of the Museum of Contemporary Arts! Give us a great show, as usual…

Very cool dancing looks like it takes a while to get that good. Hope Montreal went well glad you got good vibes and also gald you got to see the Beastie Boys. It must be odd to have an understanding of what it takes to put on a concert and see other shows and approaches. Any way hope Conan and the rest of the tour have a similar vibe to Monteral and you get some good rest.

Shenandoah can be a magical place…I was there for the first time this past June, and had to pull the car over to let a Black Bear mother and her 3 cubs cross the road safely. Good to hear you guys were able to get in some time for your own fun too!
