A certain pilot took piano lessons from me before the tour started. I invited him to our concert in Madison Square Garden last Monday. He repaid me the favour by giving me a royal treatment on the way home tonight. I was allowed into the cockpit, and not only that - I stayed there the whole time.
It was unbelievable. The weather in New York was excellent and the takeoff was indescripable. It was simply fantastic to see the entire New York area from the cockpit as the plane rose higher and higher.
The moment when we passed over Greenland was also stunning. Beholding infinity across the misty horizon, with Venus extraordinarily bright in the sky above, the Aurora Borealis all over and the gargantuan icebergs far below was something I will never forget.
To top it all I had three incredibly hot stewardesses wait on me.

I am so jealous! About the view, not the stewardesses, OK maybe about the stewardesses too. :-)You saw an Aurora from above, within it maybe?! How nature collaborated so elaborately for you!
Jonas, Bjork, Damien, Chris, Mark, Brassgirls, and everybody,
I just wanted to tell you and I know that many many people feel similarly, that what you guys are putting out to us with your music is so important and beautiful. I have felt with meeting more fans this tour that so much love and inspiration and strength is being stirred within people. I remember Bjork saying in an interview that she was imagining a Tsunami of people rising up and sweeping over the world, washing away injustice and such. I am imagining your concerts are little earthquakes stirring these rumblings within people and I am imagining the effect being exponential as people gather this and use it to strengthen their aspirations.
Jonas, I have a picture of you dancing at MSG with lasers emminating illuminata-style from your head that I will try to upload.

I’m coming in Iceland on November !
September 30th, 2007 at 11:51 am
We should do, as possible, a “meet and greet” in Iceland with all the people on this blog and have a chat.
Tori Amos style if you like …
Romain.

Romain:
I agree…..I will be there in January. You must go some year for New Years because the experience is one of a kind. We should plan a trip SOMEWHERE to meet at least! Perhaps New York ? How many people do you think are on the blog ?
Jonas:
What a night of perfection! I saw Aurora from a plane once and it is so incredibly surreal when you are literally a part of it. I bet you are glad to be home. There is a PBS documentary of New York that is one of the best I have ever seen. You should watch it during this sabbatical. I think you would like it.

I will try to post the picture to your myspace comments….a friend will have to help me cause Im not great with that kind of stuff. If you have pictures from the plane to see that would be great!

September 30th, 2007 at 11:13 pm
Lavacoolsme bis :
I saw as well from the plane some northern lights when I was coming back from New Zealand. We were flying upon Labrador sea in November at night, and it was wonder…ful !
I’m eager to see that again in Iceland especially that November is a right month !
October 1st, 2007 at 2:20 am
The Jonas Bed and Breakfast sounds awesome, Romain! Maybe he’ll give me a discount.
October 1st, 2007 at 7:04 am
I doubt that accommodating us was exactly what he had in mind…..
However, he might be pursueded into meeting us for a few drinks at Nasa or Hressingarskalinn! We will even pay!! LOL

I come twice a year…… once in winter and once in summer. I have friends there and like to see them as often as I can. One of my friends used to work with Björk´s dad actually. Plus I love to go to the Blue Lagoon by myself at night. I love it in winter because the snow will be coming down in huuuuuge snowflakes and I am sitting with mud on my face which is cold to the touch while the rest of my body is consumed in heat….God I love it. I usually find a place to be alone and just take it all in. I have not been on the Northern Lights tour but want to do that. None of my friends ever want to go on the tours so I might have to go alone. I don´t mind.
Last year I was there during the Food n Fun festival and that was a lot of fun. I had octopus ink soup and actually enjoyed it! I am not so sure if the others liked it though.
Hopefully, you can convince Miss B to have another show at NASA because maybe I could arrange my visit around that show and buy you a drink in person. I have a place to stay but Jonas B and B sounds good too……even the brimstone part.
Feel free to stay in the Kayleigh B n B if any of you are ever in Florida. I live literally right on the water (It is my front yard) and get to watch the sun go down every day. Dolphins come up to our pier daily and we have our own Sea World show right from our porches. Maybe it is growing on me just a little…..just a little. I could never afford a place like this in New York.
Romain:
I play piano too since I was 5 and also the violin. We should start a band. My brother plays guitar so he could join too !
October 2nd, 2007 at 2:28 pm
Sounds good, lavacoolsme.
I’ll be in Iceland in November. See ya here, maybe ?
And as for Jonas : I come to Iceland because I wonder how looks a geyser, a northern light, Reykjavik, the Blue Lagoon, or even an Icelander. You know, I’m french …
October 2nd, 2007 at 3:17 pm
sounds beautiful. I remember how beautiful it is to fly over Greenland. The first time I did, it was breath-taking. I could see all the cracks in the white ice, and the sharp contrast of dark blue underneath. It looked so close I could almost walk on it, but I’m sure it wasn’t. They don’t just coast over Greenland on an international flight…
But yeah, beautiful. And I remember also that was the first time I could really notice the curvature of the earth, really stunning. You’re lucky to be able to see all of this. count your blessings. even though I know you’re probably exhausted from the tour, it’s probably going to be an experience you’ll always remember and cherish.
and about the “hot” stewardesses. For some reason I just assumed you were married because you had a little girl.

Lavacoolsme : Your french is awesome, my english is terrible. I don’t live in Paris but in CANNES !
Jengoesdigital : Let’s go to Jonas B&B.
Jonas : Mr Sen, we would like to book 2 rooms for november in your wonderlust euh… wonderbrass…euh no… Wonderful (yeah, that’s it : won-der-ful) bed and breakfast. Your price is our.
I hope you are not too jetlagged.
Cheers,
Romain
October 3rd, 2007 at 3:26 pm
Romain : I would love to, but I keep hearing “MUUAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!” in my head and that ’stupid’ picture Damian took of Jonas smiling in front of the private jet. I think his motto may be “You can check in anytime you like, but you can never leave.”
October 3rd, 2007 at 7:52 pm
“I’ll never return, eat me love…” LOL
October 4th, 2007 at 1:20 am
I like the idea of everyone from the blog getting together somewhere! Jones started something great!!
I feel the same way Romain….I have been to Iceland so many times that when the plane takes off to go home I get a little melancholy. I am very much looking forward to going again. It is so incredible to be a place with zero industry. I sleep better there than anywhere else. I think it is because my body knows that it is surrounded by water and loves that.
Take care all. I wonder what Mr Sen is doing this evening.
Jen- I will be in NYC this weekend. You want to come down and go out?!

“…swallow me, all of meee.”
Romain : and maybe for our entertainment at Jonas’ B & B, we can crowd around Mr. Johnnyfingers, playing his grand piano, swaying our beer mugs, singing Bjork lyrics at the top of our lungs! Would that not be heaven?
October 4th, 2007 at 1:56 pm
OK I’m coming to see you. I’ll buy a ticket airplane from Nice, France to JFK. Someone take me at the airport ? LOL
I wonder if Jonas is ready to meet (to meat ?) all of us
Let’s bet he is bold and daring as a rebel teenager
Cheers,

October 5th, 2007 at 1:20 am
I think this particular string of your blog might last through the next tour! LOLOL
Romain: It would be meet but who knows……maybe Jonas WOULD like to “meat” us ha ha.
So much foolishness but I literally JUST got off work (It is 9:20) and I cannot wait to fly fly fly tomorrow.
I agree with you Jen- Let’s get him back to New York. We could get him and some of the brass girls together and all of us could get properly drunk. I could introduce them to my favorite cabaret bar.
Ok on to see the next blog. I think we are all obsessed.

Cannot let this thread die!
Just got back from NYC. The film fest was this weekend but funnily enough you would never have known it by the lack of people on the streets. It was hotter than a mother dog there so most people probably sat around their air conditioners.
Romain: When do you leave for your trip? Have you been to Reykjavik before? Are you going alone or with someone?

October 12th, 2007 at 2:06 am
Thank you…..where is yours?!
October 12th, 2007 at 11:31 am
I don’t have a MySpace
My friends always tell me to make one !
October 13th, 2007 at 3:40 am
Yes you really should.
Well depending on how long you are going to be there….there are a few things that are must do.
The northern lights tour is really great. It is a night tour obviously and if you want to see aurora, that is the tour to go on.
Also the Blue Lagoon is fabulous but I prefer the night tour. Make sure you bring a plastic bag to put your suit in when you are done. The restaurant there is pretty good. I like to go into the blue lagoon, and then get out and dine.
There is a bar in Reykjavik called Apotek which I really like. It is a good place to go in the evening or just by yourself to read a book and have a latte in the afternoon.
There is a little pond in the middle of the city called Tjornin which I love. There are many ducks and geese there and benches where you can just sit and think.
Since you a Bjork fan you will have to go to Sirkus. The place is pretty cool but I think there are other bars in Reykjavik that are better….you decide.
There is a 66 North that used to be in the center of town and has since moved up on the main city drag. That is a good place to go to get some Icelandic gear and show it off to your friends in Cannes but the prices are outrageous.
You will have to check out the church. Most of the time, you can just walk in and walk up to get a view of the city with no problem.
Dont bother taking any whale watching tours. They are a rip off and I dont think you are there during migration anyway.
There is a bakery on the same street as Kaffibarinn to the west I think and it is outrageous! I always go there to get something bad for me.
There is a place on the main drag (where 66 north is) that has a little window late at night where you can order hot dogs. They have the BEST hotdogs I have ever had but it is probably because I was completely drunk when I ate them (much like now) HA HA. Anyway, you will have to go out one night and then have one of those hot dogs. It is literally the only place around open that late.
Well that is a few things to keep you occupied. Let me know what you think of the place. Dont bother renting a car because it will cost you an arm and a leg and your first child and you can get anywhere you want to go by foot. Save long trips for the next time.
Kayleigh
October 15th, 2007 at 10:11 pm
Thank you for all these indications, Kay
!!!
Cheers
Romain
October 17th, 2007 at 9:37 pm
I think the bakery is to the south of Kaffibarinn…
And you might want to check out the bar Boston.
October 18th, 2007 at 2:37 am
What is bar Boston all about? I have not been to that one. I looked at a map and you are right Jonas, that bakery is south of Kaffibarinn. Don’t count on me to get us out of the woods!
God I cannot wait to come back. It looks like my trip will be postponed until February because of work obligations in January. Too bad because I love being there either when it is almost 24 hour daylight or 24 hour darkness but I will take February over nothing. Work is incredibly demanding right now. I feel like there are 6 billion people that all need me at one time. I really need a mental/physical break and wish I could come with you in November Romain! If Icelandair ends up with a lucky fair deal, I might see you. I could make it my birthday gift to myself! LOL.
K
October 21st, 2007 at 2:43 pm
Jonas, how can I make a good picture of a northern light ? Sorry to consider you as a travel guide book but you’re more Icelander than I !
And where can I eat well and cheap ? A guy from bjork.fr said : No where ! And the cigarettes are around 7 euros
!
Cheers,
Romain.
October 22nd, 2007 at 11:39 pm
For northern lights, you can just hope that you go out on a night where you can see them and then click away. Honestly stay awake on the plane because you might be able to see them from your window and it is incredible from that high.
For food, there are a couple of grocery stores around Reykjavik. Why don’t you just get things from the store for lunch and maybe eat out only at night. I do that sometimes and it suits me fine. You can go to restaurants and you don’t have to get the most expensive thing on the menu. Does your room have a little refrigerator? Where are you staying?
There is a place called Cafe Victor that has great seafood soup! They also have other things at reasonable prices. It is right at the edge of the center of town.
Buy cigarettes before you get to Iceland and pack them in your suitcase.
October 24th, 2007 at 10:55 am
I stay at Hotel Loftleidir. Breakfast is included, but I don’t know if the room has a fridge, I have to check this out.
I remember when I was in Los Angeles, I had the habit to buy my sushis on Hollywood Blvd and when I came back from New Zealand, I saw northern lights from the plane.
As for the cigarettes, I will buy some in Italy
