Well, someone has to start. This will be a very unproffesional blog.
TIM festival is over now, on to Buenos Aires. Last night’s show was great, although the crowd was very far away, and I forgot to put on socks (bugs on the floor). Afterwards there was experimental hoochie dancing, which was very educating, and apparently entertaining to some.
The air-conditioning in this hotel room has made me sick, which is always fun. So I borrowed Númi’s boiling pan to make some lemon tea, and have to use a ladle to scoop the water out. haha. Not that anyone cares.

Bergrún, french horn.

Bugs, hoochie dancing and having to boil water….wow! This makes me so jealous that I live in a place with truck drivin, mullet wearing, gun rack sportin men in Florida! LOLOL

Did you find it annoying that the audience literally sang along with every single song? I didn’t know if that threw you off or whether you would find it flattering.

You are right….someone has to start and we are glad you did! This is a crazy bunch in here and we like to have fun. I am sure everyone will make you feel tremendously welcome.

SOMETHING i don’t understand is the fact that people like to see bjork gigs from a camera than LIVE and i mean LIVE!!!!!!! ok, I enyoyed so much the hundreds of videos from youtube when i was thinking bjork would never came to chile. and thanks to all the people who went to concerts and only took photos. It’s kinda boring go to a concert to take photos. the intimate relationship betwen me and music take the best place in a concert !

I read that bjork said in the last concert in argentina “Listen, half of you are holding your little cameras, please be WITH us, it’s extremely difficult to perform like this” so

WHY DO YOU GO TO A CONCERT IF YOU ARE ADICT TO SCREENS AND PIXELS ON ALL THAT SHIT WHEN YOU CAN WATCH IT WITH YOUR EYES AND AIR BETWEN YOU AND THE STAGE??????????????

That must have been a tremendous amount of little cameras!! I can see how it distracts any performer. I, personally don’t see how messing with video can take place of watching the Bjork in her greatness, but there is definitely some amazing footage out there. Bootleg videos make it a catch 22 :P

  14. pedrope says:

    i agree with rodot

  15. mihfolya says:

It’s great she said that! I also watch those little movies, and i’m always surprised to see how much lightning screens there are! I mean there are plenty of screens!

In fact i’m more surprised that she didn’t say anything until now! She got angry in Detroit, i think, screaming “Stop!” to a fan…

Well done, Björk, don’t let them do that to you! ;-)

  16. marinaninna says:

I was there! It was beautiful… Sadly, there was too many people waiting for the other concerts and they didn’t let me go closer u____u
Even so, I loved it! I wanto to go to Peru to see the concert once more!!

Thank you, Björk - you are wonderful!

  17. n69n says:

yeah, it makes me sad when people are more concerned about RECORDING the moment than being IN the moment.
its about NOW, not about LATER.

  18. mihfolya says:

So, dear performers, what’s up? How things are going in South America? What do you all live?

It would be great to hear from you! And we all are very interested in what every one lives, even boiling pan stories!

It makes me sad that no one seems to want to do the Volta blog anymore.

foot soldier: I wouldn’t worry about it or be sad about it, really. they’re probably all on some plane or something, …it’s not always easy to get to the Internet when you’re traveling. And it’s probably not a real high priority anyways. …better to see where they are, and practice, and do stuff besides keeping a journal. sometimes it’s silly to keep notes on everything… and it’s best to just let it happen and let it disappear into the past without talking about it or explaining, or recording it, or writing it down all the time. Just like you don’t necessarily need a picture of every memory you have in life, otherwise you might get a very cluttered album, and it’ll take forever to archive and make sense of it, and might as well just live in the present time, you know? …no big deal really. I’m sure when it’s a good time, something will be interesting to talk about. whenever there’s some lull of stillness, or a really funny joke to be told, or whatever…

do you have a funny joke in the mean time?

Well, the girls do blog. But usually it’s in Icelandic. :-)

totally agree on the camera issue.
a few days ago went to onedotzero in bs as, and i observed a guy filming something watching at the little screen… and i thought “well… after filiming he’s going to pause and REALLY WATCH IT… but he never did!!!!! and walked around a whole room of things and never watched anything directyl!.. and when he wanted to see things from another angle, he moved the camera!! always through the camera… i was quite shocked.
    it’s a weird way of “experiencing” things…

and at the björk concerts in buenos aires, the same thing… there was a whole incredible set of neon lights, completely ruined by flashes.. and also.. if you are too far away, it’s pointless to use the flash!!!… it’s unnecesary annoyiiiing.
you get a bit blind after one of those… imagine trying to sing with dozens of them.
to me, it has become a very compulsive thing… besides… does anyone actually watch the thousands of taken pictures?

i admire her even more after that. to ask people to BE there WITH her. fucking amazing.

PS.. the two shows here were superb… incredibly awesome…
