Björk posters are everywhere in Vilnius, Lithuania, where we are now!

It is a charming city in an unassuming way. I went to the old part of town yesterday to have dinner with a friend. We had a nice evening.

Today I have mainly been reading Moominpappa’s Memoires, which I bought in the Moomin store in Helsinki airport, where we stopped briefly yesterday. A shame we had to cancel the concert there.

When Björk told me, in Shanghai, that we would have a concert in Finland this summer, she added: “Where the Moomin Elfs live!”

I think she is a Moomin fan, like me. Both of us bought some Moomin stuff in Tokyo - in Kiddyland, which is a famous toy store there.

Like Björk, Muminpappa has had voice problems. Here is an excerpt from the introduction to his Memoirs:

“[Moominpappa] had never been ill before and took a very serious view of the matter.

“When his throat was at his sorest, he asked Moominmamma to fetch Moomintroll and Snufkin and Sniff, and they all assembled around his bed. He then exhorted them never to forget that they had had a privilege of spending their early lives in the company of a genuine adventurer, and asked Sniff to bring him the meerschaum tram from the chest of drawers in the drawing room. But Moominpappa was so hoarse that no one understood what he wanted.”

I shed a tear, or two (or more) when I heard the concert in Helsinki was cancelled. I was so excited to see the stage go up, couldn’t wait for the D-day and so the disappointment was oh so bitter… especially since I stayed in Finland only because of the concert! It was painful to see them take it back down again!

The first (and last) time I saw Björk live was in Lausanne some 7 or 8 years ago. It was such an amazing experience! … and since then I have managed to miss all concerts due to travels, work, school, you name it. And now, due to illness on the other side of the stage!

Good to read, however, that she is feeling up to par and that the tour continues! I hope you have an excellent time spreading the greatness that is Björk :D

… so, when are you coming to Luxembourg? ;D

Thanks for the story and new update Jónas. Hopefully papmoomin and Björk will get better soon. I hope your doing well and I’m glad you were able to pick up some moomin gear, they were always a bit underground in the states.

earlier this year, i read both volumes of Tove Janssons MOOMIN comic strips, the first time they’ve been published in america.

    I WAS IN LOVE!!!!

i’d read the novels & was charmed by them, but the wit & humor in her MOOMIN comics is a whole different kind of storytelling! i recommend them for everyone!

the artwork has such personality & feeling, such a sense of kindness & good humor, i think any thinking person would fall right in love!
