Björk’s final independent show on the Volta tour was held in Istanbul last Sunday. I enjoyed myself thoroughly on stage and so did the rest of us. Björk was marvellous and the venue was beautiful. And the audience was simply wonderful.

Here is a video. I hope you like it. Since this was our very last sound check, it was a bit unorthodox.

The party back stage was great and the evening for me personally ended with a few friends on the terrace in front of the Four Seasons Hotel, which is located right on the bank of the Bosphorous.

It was awesome sitting a couple of meters away from the water, watching black ships sail by in the darkness against the city lights, with the Bosphorous Bridge constantly changing colors in the background.

We left Istanbul yesterday and flew to Portugal. The flight was uneventful. One of the stewardesses had the attitude of a Gestapo guard, which was very funny, but the landing was not amusing. Strong side winds made the plane quite wobbly in the final descent and the touch down was brutal. Scary!

The video is great, Jonas! Thank you!

And we could get a great look at damian’s moustache!

Just a silly question: you never show Björk herself in your videos, except when she’s performing. Did she ask you not to film her in private moments, like backstage or something?

Hope she’ll write us something here before the end of the tour!

But it’s such a great pleasure to read you, Jonas! Thanks for posting!

    Enjoy Portugal and Spain!

Jónas, thankyou for always thinking of us fans! I appreciate all your videos and stories. The blog really made us feel like a part of the tour, more than any other tour. You are ‘fantastic!’

    Mihfolya,

I was wondering the same question. My guess is that she didn’t want to be recorded because she didn’t want to feel that she was the center of attention (because we all know how she feels about cameras, recorders…) so who knows? I am such a curious cat though…that I would love to know the answer!

I agree that Björk should not have to put up with constant harrassment from cameras pointing at her filming her every move when she is off stage. The insight that this blog and the Björk podcasts have given us to Volta have been quite unique and have added an extra dimension to this tour. Thanks, Jónas, for all your efforts as well as those from others who have contributed. I’m sure there have been times when writing on the blog was far down the list of priorities, but it has been intriguing and I am sure that I am one of many who wish you all the best for the future and the last days of the tour.
